What’s Happening in Al Fasher?
Al-Fashir, once a thriving regional hub, has been transformed by months of escalating hardship. The city endured a prolonged siege that blocked supply routes, cutting off food, water and medical supplies. At the same time, combat raged in residential neighbourhoods and even displacement sites, forcing civilians into constant danger. Local hospitals and health facilities were overwhelmed or damaged, leaving injured and sick people with minimal care available.
When attacks escalated in late October 2025, tens of thousands of families were pushed to the breaking point. Faced with threats of bombardment, the collapse of basic services, and worsening hunger, more than 260,000 civilians were trapped during the crisis many have since fled to makeshift camps across North Darfur under extremely harsh conditions.
